The added value of local governments in advancing a culture of peace is at the heart of SDG 16. Initiatives led by local governments are often underexposed even though they can be successful and have strong legitimacy. The session will showcase the most innovative cases from the finalists of the 2022 UCLG Peace Prize and discussions will focus on key peace-building challenges, the contribution of local governments and a shared understanding of the pathways to peaceful and inclusive societies.
